Imagine Your Whole Life in a Cage

22reasons teaches compassion for animals in schools, libraries and other informal settings. Most recently, in their year-long activity program at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, three sixth grade students came up with a powerful way to raise awareness about circus animal suffering.22 reasons 1
After learning the story of the 29 circus lions rescued by Animal Defenders International, Carlo, Sante, and Alex built a “beast wagon” and sat in it for four hours at their school in order to create empathy for the animals who spend their lifetime confined. The boys raised over $200 in donations for the lions, who now live at The Wild Animal Sanctuary, in Colorado and the Performing Animal Welfare Society, in California.
Learning about individual animals who have been denied the liberty to experience their natural born lives, promotes the critical thinking necessary for action on their behalf. Children who love animals and enjoy being creative are a perfect match for 22reasons.  They turn their compassion into action!
