Pencils of Promise believes every child should have access to quality education. We create schools, programs, and global communities around the common goal of education for all.  Since our founding in 2008, Pencils of Promise (PoP) has broken ground on over 200 schools throughout Laos, Nicaragua, Ghana, and Guatemala. Our programs have impacted more than 150,000 lives and sparked an international movement around global access to education. Education can create profound, lasting change in a community and, with plans to break ground on 500 schools by 2015, PoP’s programs are doing just that.

Our program involves building schools in these areas, sustaining students from primary to secondary school by providing scholarships, teacher training workshops and in-service teacher development, and improving water, sanitation and hygiene systems throughout the schools.

Mitzvah projects include having students fundraise to build a school or support these programs with Pencils of Promise. It costs $25 to educate a child for a year, $10,000 to build a classroom, and $25,000 to build a full school in Guatemala, Ghana, or Laos.  Check out the mitzvah projects of our current fundraisers to see how they have impacted the lives of students in these regions.
