A Room for Reading

Since November 1, 2013, Kayla has been conducting a read-a-thon to raise money for Room to Read, a globally recognized charity that partners with local communities in the developing world to promote literacy and equal educational opportunity for girls. Sisterly Love and ‘Sweet’ Support

Lindsey chose for her mitzvah project to raise money for the NOAH organization in honor of her sister Eva. Eva was diagnosed at 6 weeks old with Ocular Albanism. Ocular Albanism is a genetic birth defect that impairs Eva’s vision. She is highly functional in a regular classroom setting with special accommodations made for her including larger text textbooks and magnifying tools. Lindsey and her family sold homemade chocolate chip cookies and lemonade on 9/21/13.  With the help of generous family, friends and strangers, Lindsey raised almost $900 towards a cause that is important to her!
