High School Park, 11 acres of meadow, woodland, and creek side is located in the heart of Elkins Park.
The mission of our non-profit organization is to create and maintain a native plant preserve of local species, including plants, birds, and insects, for the benefit of the community.  We need many hands to meet this goal.
You may be looking for a mitzvah project that is connected to nature and ecology. This could be the perfect match! Our “Adopt a Spot” program helps volunteers to select a section of the park that will become their section to care for. You will receive instructions about the plants and care needed in the section you choose. Look after your plot for a designated time period, (a minimum of 6 months.) The amount of labor required will vary over the seasons, on average from 1 to 4 hours per week.
Several families or entire Bar/Bat Mitzvah classes could even commit to adopt a larger area together.

Call/email or visit our Park Restoration Manager, Kevin Reis, to set up a first meeting!  Participation requires a minimum of one child with one adult, but we encourage whole families to participate.
