The goal of the Nor’Wester Readers Canine Assisted Learning Program is to utilize registered therapy dog teams who will work cooperatively with public school teachers to support and build student motivation, enhance focus, and increase task persistence. The presence of our therapy dig teams will offer a stress free learning environment which will increase student self esteem and confidence.  This program enhances the educational environment and improves student learning through the use of the therapy dogs in the classroom. Volunteer Opportunity:  Do you have a certified therapy dog? – The elementary students would benefit having both a dog and an older teen to help with reading challenges as a community service project.

For a bar/bat mitzvah project, if you don’t have a dog you can help with community awareness. Arrange a family dog walk as a fundraiser. Contact Wendi Huttner for details.
