Mazel Tov on their Bar Mitzvah

The Jewish Relief Agency is celebrating its Bar Mitzvah year and you’re invited to join the celebration!  Founded in September 2000 with just 3 volunteers, 1 van and 19 recipient families, JRA is now the largest hunger relief agency serving the Philadelphia Jewish community.  One Sunday each month, 750-1000+ volunteers of all ages, backgrounds and abilities come together to pack and then deliver boxes of fresh produce and nonperishable kosher pantry items to over 3,200 low-income households in Bucks, Montgomery, Philadelphia, Delaware and Chester counties.  Volunteers range in age from 18 months to nearly 100 and JRA has experience working with individuals with a broad range of special needs.

3,200 boxes?  It must take all day to get everything packed and delivered, right?  The amazing thing about JRA is that all those boxes get packed in under 90 minutes! To help make the morning even more fun, volunteers enjoy music from EBE Events and Entertainment AND delicious snacks including bagels, cake, coffee and juice.

Bottom line, JRA is the most fun you can have doing a mitzvah on a Sunday morning.  Produce packing and box making runs from 8:30-10:00am and box packing begins at 10:00am.  Volunteers are welcome to come at any time and stay for as little or as long as they like.  Upcoming distribution dates are February 16, March 9, April 6, and May 4.  Visit www.jewishrelief.org for the complete 2014 distribution schedule or to be added to our volunteer email list.  Questions?
