Today, more than four million people around the world suffer from Parkinson’s disease. The disease is chronic and progressive, with symptoms ranging from tremor, stiffness, rigidity, and pain to speech and swallowing, memory loss and depression. Because of the complexity of this disease, patients and their families, as well as physicians and health care professionals, need access to the most effective care and treatment information available.

That is why the National Parkinson Foundation (NPF) works every day to improve the quality of Parkinson’s care through research, education and outreach. We believe by working together, we can improve the quality of care for every person diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease today and in the future.

Volunteer Opportunities:
Moving Day®

The National Parkinson Foundation’s Moving Day Walk is a fun, inspiring fundraising event that unites families, friends and communities in the fight against Parkinson’s disease. Held in cities across the United States, it is the first grassroots campaign that spotlights the disease on a national level and gives you the chance to speak out in your own community. Moving Day is more than just a walk. It highlights “movement” and exercise as a symbol of hope and progress because of its essential role in treating Parkinson’s disease.  Each event features our unique Movement Pavilion, with stations such as yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi, dance and much more. Whether you take part on a team or join as an individual, you’ll get a chance to move with thousands of supporters who share a common goal— to help beat Parkinson’s.
