Our mission is to develop the physical and emotional well-being of all people including those with special needs. We are committed to personal growth and education in an equestrian environment of respect and love. Founded in 1969.

Thorncroft Equestrian Center will continue to be a premier leader in the field of therapeutic horseback riding and related mental health programs. Our Education Center will provide continuing education and assist in the development of future programs for instructors, students and families. As a non-profit 501(c)(3), Thorncroft will continue to operate on a sound financial basis, with particular emphasis on the long-term strength of the Center. Under the guidance of a dedicated Board and Staff, we will continue to be devoted to enhancing the mind, body and spirit of all individuals touched by the Thorncroft experience.

Thorncroft welcomes students of all ages. Our 70 acre farm, now under an open space easement, is open and here to enjoy. Private and group lessons are individually geared towards the ability and goals of the rider. Horsemanship is taught on the flat and over fences in either of our 2 indoor arenas, the outdoor arena or cross country course; trails around the Farm are available for riders to enjoy the surrounding countryside.

Our Mitzvah Project opportunity is for those students 13 years and older. You may help in several ways:
WEEKLY LESSONS
Our lesson volunteers assist with weekly lessons by grooming and tacking horses before the lesson, leading the horse or side aiding for a student during the lesson, and putting the horse away after the lesson. These volunteers commit to the same day and time every week in order to establish relationships and teamwork between the rider, the instructor and the horse. No horse experience? No problem. We teach our volunteers to work with horses and students. Fill out an application online.

We also sponsor Special Programs, Horse Shows & Special Events– there is a volunteer position available for you!

Volunteer Opportunity Times/Days of Week: Monday 3-7pm Tuesday 3-7pm Wednesday 12:30-3:30pm Wednesday 3:30-6pm Thursday 3:30pm-6pm Friday 3-6pm
