The Mitzvah Bowl

Dog Rescue Mitzvah Project

Justin will have his Bar Mitzvah on June 3, 2017.  For his Mitzvah project, he chose to work with Dog Town Rescue in Colmar, Pennsylvania. The Mitzvah Bowl

Justin has always loved animals, especially dogs. Throughout the years, he would always make his parents take him to pet stores and rescues to be able to play with the dogs and give them some attention. Two and a half years ago he was even able to convince his parents, after months of begging, to get their dog Chester!

After going through an orientation at Dog Town Rescue, he was able to volunteer and help with all the dogs. He plays with the dogs, walks them, and helps with whatever they need.

Justin also started a Fundraiser to raise money for Dog Town, which was to sell Lip Balm.   He also created a website – www.LipsaversLipBalm.com – to promote it.   He will present Dog Town Rescue with a check to help them with their dog expenses.

Being able to help the dogs and give them love and attention has been extremely fulfilling for Justin.  To see how the dogs get excited when he comes into the store and to help them with their needs has given Justin a lot of satisfaction.  Some of these dogs were in bad situations before coming to Dog Town; Some of them were were even in high-kill shelters.  To be able to show the dogs some affection and caring really made him feel happy.  Animals deserve to be loved and treated like one of the family, and he hopes that all dogs in shelters are able to find a great family to be a part of.  Volunteering at Dog Town and being able to present them with a check has truly been a terrific and rewarding experience.  It is one that he will always remember!
