Are you getting ready to send your kids back to school for the start of another whirlwind of a year? It’s an exciting time when everyone gets their classroom/teacher assignments, school supplies and gears up for sports teams and practices.
One piece of the scheduling puzzle should be taken into account NOW—and that’s when your bar/bat mitzvah child will be working on his/her mitzvah project.
Take into consideration the following factors:
- When is the bar/bat mitzvah? If it is in the winter or prior, its probably time for your son or daughter to work on their mitzvah project in the next couple of months.
- Where is the organization your son or daughter is supporting? Is it local or a far distance. Plan your work/travel schedule accordingly so your child doesn’t miss out on seeing the impact of his/her efforts.
- Homework. Get a sense if your sixth, seventh or eighth grader has a heavier load of schoolwork than in the past. Have him/her coordinate their volunteer efforts around their homework schedule; also a great way to practice time management skills.
