Our mission is to provide care and support to families affected by cancer. We recognize that a cancer diagnosis affects every aspect of a family’s life: emotional, physical, spiritual and financial. We strive to provide a family with whatever it is that will allow them a bit of “breathing room” from their daily struggle against cancer. It is our hope that this will allow them to concentrate all of their efforts toward regaining their physical health.

As a mitzvah project,  teenage volunteers for provide a variety of services for the Breathing Room families, from baking desserts and cooking homemade meals; delivering new school supplies, uncooked Thanksgiving feasts and holiday gifts. Groups of teens have done yard cleanups for our families. Many schools and youth groups organize a school supply collection to support our Back to School Program or “Winter Warmth” items for our Holiday Program. Snack bags are an easy collection and project for young teens with minimum financial cost for the donors. A quart size Ziploc type bag filled with 2 individually wrapped snacks and a small drink are the perfect treat to add to a lunch box, sports bag or pocketbook for long hours of doctors’ appointments and treatments. There are endless opportunities for the young tweens/teens seeking service opportunities in their communities to comfort and support Breathing Room families affected by cancer.
